Knights of Columbus Fish Fry

Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Knights of Columbus are having their Fish Fry Fridays through April 15 at the church, 1023 Corinth Road from 5:30 to 8 p.m., dine-in or carry out. Tickets are $10 adults and $7 for children.

Mt. Haven CME hosts annual fish fry, car wash

Afton Grove Baptist plans Easter egg hunt

Afton Grove Baptist Church, 360 CR 4208, will have a community-wide Easter egg hunt for children 3 years old through fifth grade 2-4 p.m. April 16. There will be an egg hunt for each age group. Activities, arts and crafts, and refreshments will also be in the gym. Kids just need to bring their baskets and join the fun.



St. John's UMC plans Easter picnic

The congregation of St. John's United Methodist Church, 2020 Beaumont St., in Jacksonville, invites the community to join in the many activities scheduled for April. Sunday school begins at 10:15 a.m. and morning worship follows at 11:15 a.m. An Easter egg hunt and church picnic will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 16 at Nichols Park. Bring your lunch and enjoy the Christian fellowship.

Greater Mt. Horeb hosts pastor anniversary

Greater Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, 131 S. Pineda St., is hosting a fifth anniversary celebration for its pastor and his wife, Michael and Elaine Hollie, at 3:30 p.m. April 17. The speaker will be the Rev. Charles Jeffery, pastor of Grace Tabernacle of Lufkin. Come one, come all, and help the congregation lift up the name of Jesus.

The congregation of St. John's United Methodist Church, 2020 Beaumont St., in Jacksonville, invites the community to join in the many activities scheduled for April. Help them celebrate the resurrection of the Lord on Easter morning with sunrise services at Antioch Methodist Church, 2681 CR 3111, Jacksonville, at 7 a.m. followed by Easter Sunday services at 11:15 a.m. at St. John's Methodist on April 24.

St. Charles in Frankston plans fiesta

St. Charles Catholic Church, 1379 N. Frankston Hwy., in Frankston, will have a Jamaica Fiesta in the church parking lot 8 a.m.-? on April 30. Booths will be set up featuring Mexican and American dishes such as enchiladas, tamales, hot dogs, corny dogs, and more. Pick what you want to eat from any or all booths! There will be activities for the children as well as homemade crafts for sale. This will be a time of fun for the entire community.

Central Baptist offers divorce recovery seminar

DivorceCare divorce recovery seminar and support group meets at Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville each Monday at 7 p.m.  Child care is provided through 6th grade.  The church is located at 1909 East Rusk St. DivorceCare features nationally recognized experts on divorce and recovery topics.  Seminar sessions include “Facing My Anger,” “Facing My Loneliness,” “Depression,” “New Relationships,” “Kid Care,” and “Forgiveness.” The companion group, DivorceCare4Kids, for children of divorce ages K-6th grade will also meet at the same time.  DC4K helps these children deal with similar issues through an age related curriculum that helps them understand that divorce is a grown-up problem that is never their fault. Break Free Recovery held

Woodland Heights Baptist Church will host Break Free Recovery, a 12 step Christ-centered program for those who are suffering from hurts, habits or hangups. St. John’s UMC seniors hold fellowship time

Our Lady of Sorrows offers tax preparation help

Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church is sponsoring training to help you learn how to prepare EZ tax forms for low income, elderly or the disabled.  IRS will send in trainers and provide access to on-line training, to help you learn to prepare EZ tax forms for others or for yourself.  The training is free.  You can help your neighbors prepare and file their tax.  If you make a mistake, relax, you are not liable for mistakes. This is a great opportunity for college and high school students, retirees and others willing to help our neighbors. Please see or call Fr. Eagle Scout wants community support

Dustin Simmons, a Jacksonville boyscout is looking to finish his eagle scout project, a prayer garden on the campus of Jacksonville College. The prayer garden is encompassed with personalized bricks which have a etched and sealed area with personalized text. These bricks are to remember or honor a family member, a child, a friend or yourself. Bricks are $35 and can have 45 characters engraved. While the project is underway the bricks are significantly discounted, after the project is completed brick prices may go as high as $100. Donations are accepted.
