The River of Life Christian Center in Rusk is working to acquire a tent for a church with a congregation of 800 in Haiti.
River of Life’s Robert Corbell said Pastor Jean Chenet told him by phone that he was OK, despite being in an area hit hardest by the earthquake. Chenet said the church is cracked and unsafe, but he would like to have a tent.
The church lost 12 members to the quake, and the toll keeps rising in Haiti as they have not found everyone yet, Corbell said. The River of Life is pursuing a 40’ x 100’ tent or donations to purchase one at a cost of about $9,800 plus about $4,500 for shipping.
Corbell said Chenet was in a “war zone” but was happy. About 20-30 people were saved Sunday morning.
“I believe this is the beginning of a revival. People are coming to Jesus,” Corbell said.
He said the people of Haiti, where about 80 percent practiced voodoo, are understanding that the old ways have not produced happiness and are turning to God. The rebuilding process will be “astronomical,” he said.
Corbell and missionary Mitch Clay, of Gun Barrel City, will travel to Haiti in April. They will provide encouragement, food, water and funds. He said they would also like to start a concrete block company to provide jobs for the people.
“We are looking for ways to help them get started and become self-sufficient while helping them spiritually,” Corbell said.
Anyone who would like to help their effort can send checks to the River of Life, 677 S. Dickinson Dr., Rusk, TX 75785. They have a special missions account so donors can write Haiti under memo on their checks.

Where to look in the Bible when we are in danger
When we are in danger, read Psalm 91. Verses 9-13 tell us some of the ways the Lord protects us, “If you say, ‘The LORD is my refuge, and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command His angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.” -
Prayer request challenge extended
Grace Beal of Cuney drops her prayer request in her church’s prayer request box. She has extended her challenge for prayer requests. The minister of the New Testament Holiness Church at 160 CR 3510 has been holding open air services each night at the church. The services are held at 6:30 p.m. Beal said people should “believe God. He is the one who will answer prayers.” People may drop prayer requests in the box in front of the church.

What would you ask of God?
If God spoke to you and told you could ask Him for one thing and He would grant it, what would you ask for? Before you read any further, take some time to think about that question. If the Creator of all there is offered to grant you one request, what would you consider the ultimate gift from Almighty God?

Perry’s prayer plan should be supported
I am so tired of being worried, upset and depressed about the future of our nation. There has to be hope somewhere.

Listening for that trumpet call
I was awakened recently by a loud blast that sounded like a horn blowing. Guess what my first thought was. Yep, I wondered, “Is this it? Is that the trumpet call?”
