JACKSONVILLE — Editor’s note: A Jacksonville resident has been reviewing movies for friends for several years and has offered to share his thoughts with Daily Progress readers. His reviews come in personal letters to his nicknamed friend, Spud Nut. Our reviewer is Tater Tot, so consequently, the movies get ratings based on potatoes.

Spud Nut,

Salt (rated PG-13, 99 minutes) is the last name of Angelina Jolie’s character in her latest action adventure movie where she is an expert CIA agent accused of being a Russian spy.

This fast moving drama is one long hide-and-seek chase sequence where Jolie tries to foil an assassination attempt and prove her innocence.

Meanwhile her former employers are trying to stop her.

Does that conflict sound familiar?

What makes these situations interesting is that people are often not what they seem, and you wonder who you can trust – including Evelyn Salt herself.

The film’s improbable stunt scenes are akin to some of the jumps and falls in Kung Fu productions.

Still, it is refreshing to see assisted live action instead of the computer generated effects of most big budget summer time releases.

If you liked the Lara Croft and Bourne Identity features then you should enjoy this continuation of these popular releases about three hot potatoes worth.

Tater Tot,

I enjoyed Salt.

Angelina’s Salt is like Laura Croft with PMS.

Actually, this outing is a more serious and less cartoon-like and considerably more gritty.

She does a fine job in action flicks.

And there is plenty of action in this one. Great chase scenes. A story with more twists than a Hill Country road.

The plot will keep you guessing.

I’d say jump on a passing bus and motor on down to see this absorbing tale, that is, unless you are frightened by those over puffed lips!

Any second I expect them to explode! I mean, do you imagine that she has helium in those things? Scary!
