HUNTSVILLE — James “Red” McPike, 74, of Huntsville, Texas, passed away on July 16, 2012, in Huntsville.  Red was born on August 7, 1937, in Huntsville to Charlie M. McPike and Velva McPike (Madden).

Red is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anita (Dosser) McPike; sons, William Charles McPike and wife Jan, Raymond Eric McPike and wife Marivel, James Dudley McPike and wife Alisha; daughter, Angela Michelle Ramirez and husband Roel; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Billy Charles McPike and wife Karen and Raymond Edward McPike and wife Juventina; sister, Linda Ann McPike; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He worked many years for drilling companies as a driller and tool pusher and in 1995 went to work for Geo Thermal Drilling, Inc.  He was a member of Texas Groundwater Association and National Groundwater Association. Red lived life on his own terms.

Funeral services for Mr. McPike will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Huntsville, Texas, with Rev. Ellen Willett officiating. Family will receive friends, Friday, July 20, 2012, 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville.
