Graveside services for Helen Smith, age 84, of Ponta, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wed., Jan. 30, at Myrtle Springs Cemetery, Ponta with Dr. Darin Wood officiating.
Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Mrs. Smith passed away Sat., Jan. 26, 2013 after a lengthy illness.
She was born June 20, 1928 in Gallatin, Texas. Mrs. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church, Ponta. She worked as a clerk at Kelly Air Force Base and Buddies’ Supermarket in San Antonio.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Allen Smith; parents, James and Bertha Jackson; sister, Christine Baker and brother Joe Earl Jackson.
Survivors include sons, James and Bert Smith; daughters, Sherry Lofton and husband Bob, Alana Hooton and husband Kenneth, Hedda Alexander and husband Steve, all of Jacksonville; sister, LaVerne Bobbitt of Rusk; brother-in-law Lawrence Smith and wife Dorothy of Frankston; sister-in-law Joann Jackson of Rusk; 10 grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; numerous great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews and special friend Lillian Bobbitt of Ponta.Honorary pallbearers are Frank Perkins, John Perkins, George Golightly, Jack Guy, and Archie Crawford.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Tues., Jan. 29, at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
