JACKSONVILLE — Funeral services for Raleigh E. Sherman, Lt. Col. USAF Retired, age 93, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville, with Rev. Darin Wood and Rev. Adam Perkins officiating.

Burial will be held at Jacksonville City Cemetery.

Lt. Col. Sherman passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012 in Tyler.

He was born September 16, 1918 in Jacksonville.

Lt. Col. Sherman was retired from the military having served 21 years, retired from Southwestern Electric after 20+ years, was a Mason, past member of Rotary and other organizations, and was a member of Central Baptist Church, Jacksonville.

He is preceded in death by his wife Emma Jean Sherman (‘2009), parents, and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his son Bill Sherman and wife Sandra of Jacksonville; daughter Mary Vardeman and husband Ray of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Sherman, Brent Byers, Brad Gwartney, Noel Franks, Lance “L.J.” Losey, Austin Gwartney, Cameron Franks, and Aaron Franks.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
