Grover Robert Martin

JACKSONVILLE — Grover Robert Martin, 79, of Jacksonville, TX was called home by his Lord and Savior on a full moon night, May 6th, 2012. He was born on March 15, 1933 in Ennis, TX to Homer G. and Ruth Martin.

Grover grew up in Ennis, TX. He graduated from Ennis High School in 1950. Joined the Navy in 1951—served 4 years as an Airman 1st Class on several carriers, including The Randolph. He went to work for Shell Chemical in 1955 in Pasadena, TX. He met and married Theta Sessions in 1956; must have been love at first sight. During his life, Grover was a deacon, a mason, a truck driver, a salesman; but always a dedicated family man. He had a heart of gold and was slow to anger. His patience with his family knew no limits.

Grover is survived by his loving wife of 56 years; Theta P. Sessions Martin, of Jacksonville, TX  He is also survived by his daughter-Lee Ann West; son- Homer and wife Vicki; granddaughter-Mandi Medrano and husband Chris; grandson-Zachary Martin West; sister-Pat Holcomb and 2 new great grandbabies on the way.

He will be loved, remembered with laughter, and dearly missed by everyone.  We have faith; that all those who have preceded him to the Kingdom of Heaven, will be there with open hearts.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
