Graveside services for William Louie Pate, age 89, of Rusk, were held Friday, December 28, 2012 at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Don Cope-land officiating under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.
Louie passed away December 27, 2012 at his residence. He was born August 15, 1923 in Rusk to the late Will-iam Elmer and Willie Mae Deckard Pate. He was a Baptist and a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Rusk. Louie was employed at Lyons Butane in Alto, Brook-shire Bros in Rusk and retired from Rusk State Hospital with 33 years of service. He was a gifted knife maker.
Preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Troyce John-ston Pate of Rusk, son, Louis Keith Pate of Jefferson, TX, three grandchildren, Shane Pate of Houston, TX, Samantha Pate of Jacksonville, Nicholas Pate of Little Rock, Arkansas, sister-in-law, Bernice Johnston of Dallas, TX nephew, B. Lynn and wife Louann John-ston of Dallas, niece, Joye Carol Durco of Allen, TX, a second family, J.G. and Maxine Halbert of Rusk, James Earl and Bina Lloyd of Rusk, Sue Watson of Rusk, Peggy Halbert of Rusk, Glenda Dunigan of Corpus Christi, TX, Sherry Coates of Rusk. Pallbearers included Lloyd Hudson, Bobby Tosh, Sherwood Smith and Rodney Speake. Honorary pallbearers were Rev. Kevin Gentry, Kenneth Mann, Billy Lankford, Morris Dixon and Shannon Clement. There was no visitation.
Special thanks to Rev. Don Copeland for holding the service and being such a wonderful pastor and loving friend along with Fayne as a wonderful wife. Thanks to each staff member of Heart to Heart Hospice of Lufkin for being such loving and caring people.
