Opal Partin Rachel

JACKSONVILLE — Opal Partin Rachel of Jacksonville, TX passed from this world into a greater world June 16, 2012.  She was born January 5, 1920 in Jacksonville where she lived most of her life.  She is survived by one daughter, Patsy Rachel Collins and husband Robert of Jacksonville, two grandsons, Larry Collins and wife Pam of Jacksonville and Stephen Collins and wife Patti of Lenexa, KS, three great granddaughters, Amanda, Marisa and Shelby, nieces, Barbara Johnson of Conroe, TX and Sandra Partin of Jacksonville, TX, nephew, Ed McAnally of New Caney, TX and several other nieces and nephews.  In her early life she worked during tomato season packing tomatoes in the evening and during the day East Texas Theaters.  She worked for Dr. Tom D. Stephens, Dentist, several years and later went to nursing school and became a licensed nurse and worked for the Nan Travis Hospital which is now ETMC.  Opal was an avid puzzle player.  she loved Radio talk shows and loved music.  She was preceded in death by her father Jett Partin, her Mother, Nettie Partin Douglas, and step-father Hoyt Douglas who raised her, two sisters, Ethyl McAnally, Jessie Majors James, one brother, William "Pete"  Red Partin,  nephew Billy Carrol Partin, and childhood and lifelong friend, Catherine Hunt Helm.  Opal joined the Central Baptist Church at the age of 13 in 1933 where she continued to be a member until her death.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, at Boren-Conner Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Dr. Edwin Crank and Frank Waggoner officiating.  Burial will follow at Mixon Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Fred Coleman, Michael Hinojosa, Russell Wolf, Wayne Wolf, Russell Stafford and Johnny Johnson, Jr..  Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Boren-Conner Funeral Home.
