Ferne Whitney Ely

JACKSONVILLE —  Ferne W. Ely, 100, died Thurs., Oct. 4,  after a brief illness.

 Born June 7, 1912, she was the daughter of William E. and Christie C. Whitney, and sister to Cora May Welch, Austin C. Whitney and Marion Whitney.  Mother of Cora Edith Ey, grandmother of Christie Odeneal Smith, Nicole Sieler Tande and Laura Odeneal Flake, Great-grandmother to Kayla, Mason, Erica, Kelton and Jaxon.

 She was a career school teacher in New Jersey and Maine, and enjoyed traveling, writing letters and reading. She was a member of Central baptist Church in Jacksonville.

 A graveside service will be held Sat., Oct 13, at Cathedral In The Pines Cemetary in Tyler.

Family will receive friends after the memorial service at her granddaughter's home, 114 Wendy Dr Whitehouse, 75791.
