JACKSONVILLE —
Funeral services for George W. Powell, Jr. are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Cove Springs United Methodist Church. A memorial service will also be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Mertens Cemetery in Mertens, Texas.
Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Mr. Powell passed away on October 10, 2012 in Tyler.
He was born June 12, 1932, in Mertens, Texas.
Mr. Powell was a Mason, a member of the American Legion, and a member of the VFW.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George W. Powell, Sr. and Eula Jane Tate Powell; and his brother, Bill Powell.
Survivors include his wife, Lea Powell of Jacksonville; son, George Powell III and wife Cynthia of Jacksonville; daughters, Paula Carlile of Terrell, Susan Avila & husband Carlos of Charlotte, NC, Linda Akin and husband Willie of Whitehouse, and Alice Rasberry of Galveston; brother, Charles Ray Powell and wife Bebe of Grandview; sister, Fran and husband Barry Acord of Athens; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
