JACKSONVILLE — Graveside services for Mr. William "Bill" Russell Douglas, Sr., age 82, of Jacksonville, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday at Resthaven Cemetery with Rev. Lester Foreman officiating. William "Bill" Russell Douglas passed away after a lengthy illness on April 22, 2012. he is survived by his wife, Antonia Villatora Douglas, his brothers, Thomas Douglas of Low Gap, N.C., Donald Douglas of Denver, CO, his sister, Betty Benkendorfer of George West, TX, his daughter, Susanna Douglas Mitchell of Austin, his sons, William, Michael, Robert, Steven and Mark, all of Jacksonville. He leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Bill was born in Texas City on June 29, 1929. He was a retired truck driver who served in the army after WWII as part of the Allied Occupying Forces in Italy and later fought in the Korean War. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He was never at a loss for words. The family wants to thank the nurses and staff of Legacy Hospice in Tyler for their assistance and care in his last days. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
