Flora Jane Edmiston

MAYDELLE — Flora Jane Edmiston was born in Glenwood, AR on July 1, 1913 to George and Maggie Scogin.  As a young child the family moved to Maydelle, TX where she grew up.  She married R. L. "Buck" Edmiston.  After several moves, they settled in Hemphill, Texas where they raised four children, Ruth Tucker, now residing in Kilgore, Kenneth Edmiston of Riesel, TX, Glenda Brown of Holly Lake Ranch, TX and Jimmy Edmiston of Flint, TX.  After retirement they moved back to Maydelle, TX where they were at the time of Buck's death after 50 years of marriage.  She lived there until she moved to Kilgore, TX to be closer to her children.  She was a long time member of the Maydelle Baptist Church until moving to Kilgore where she moved her membership to Stone Ridge Baptist Church.  During her lifetime her family has consisted of her four children, 13 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren, many nephews, nieces and friends that she loved dearly.  The Lord called her home to His Kingdom on August 20, 2012.   She will be greatly missed by her loved ones.  She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Maggie Scogin, her husband, R. L. "Buck" Edmiston, her brother, Omer Scogin, three sisters and their spouses,  Cloyce Turner, Ninnie Allen, and Helen Gallagher.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday at the Boren-Conner Funeral Home chapel, Jacksonville, with Rev. John Gradberg officiating.  Burial will follow at the Union Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be Robert Edmiston, Mark Edmiston, Mike Oxsheer, John Gill, Paul Gill and Mark Wittig.  Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Oxsheer, Eric Edmiston and great grandsons.  The family requests that donations be made to the Stone Ridge Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
