Baseball, softball tourney starts Friday

Dixie League 9-10 All-Stars in competition at Byrd Road complex

The baseball complex on Byrd Road will be a hot bed of excitement Friday and Saturday with the Dixie All-Star tournament scheduled.

Action will begin at 6 p.m. each night with both boys baseball and girls softball competition to be held according to Jacksonville Baseball/Softball Association Secretary Shannon Robinson.

In the boys’ division, teams slated to compete include: Jacksonville, Kilgore, Carthage, Nacogdoches, Tyler and Henderson.

In the girls’ softball competition, Jacksonville will take the field along with teams from Leverett’s Chapel, Overton, Arp and Sabine. Two games will be played each date.

Admission is $6, which includes a $1 donation to the Payton Diers Memorial Scholarship Fund.
