JACKSONVILLE —
A local 23-year-old man was arrested Saturday following a robbery at the Subway restaurant on Jackson Street the same day at about 9 a.m., Jacksonville Police Department Detective Sgt. Daniel Franklin said. Ronald Johnson was taken into custody and charged with aggravated robbery.
“A man walked into Subway and entered the back area where the employees work,” Franklin said. “There was one employee in the restaurant when it happened.”
Franklin said Johnson allegedly produced a small knife and demanded money from the cash register. He added about $80 was taken before Johnson left the business.
“Officers got a description from the employee,” Franklin said. He also said an officer soon located Johnson, who Franklin said matched the description and, during questioning, found around $45 on his person.
“He was asked if he had robbed a Subway and he said yes,” Franklin said.
Johnson’s bond was set at $20,000. Cherokee County Jail officials stated he was still in custody at press time.
