CHEROKEE COUNTY —
The Singing Men of East Texas will offer a free performance 7 p.m. Thursday at Jacksonville College’s Buckner Chapel.
The group is one of six Singing Men of Texas ensembles that are sponsored by the Baptist General Convention of Texas, according to the website www.smetex.org.
Members are practicing and retired music ministers, as well as other church staff members, college professors and laymen from area churches who perform in concert monthly, and funds raised through concert donations and CD sales support the ministry, the website said.
Keith Wilkerson, minister of music at Kilgore’s First Baptist Church Liberty City, is director of the Singing Men of East Texas. The group has performed in Texarkana and Crockett and points in between.
For more information about Thursday’s event, contact Tim Timmons of Jacksonville College’s admissions and development department, at 903-721-4680.
