The Rusk Police Department arrested 13 people in mid-July for various charges. Among these were five or six arrested for traffic charges or charges alleged in conjunction with being in a motor vehicle. All arrests were made between July 8 and July 23, according to police department officials.
Arrests made include:
• Eric Shane Newman, 46, for criminal trespass;
• Christopher John Ellison, 41, for possession of marijuana, less than 2 ounces;
• Anthony Wayne Tucker, 43, for assault-causing bodily injury (family violence);
• Sharey Almond, 24, for possession of marijuana, less than 2 ounces;
• Fermin Loya Chapapro, 34, for possession of an alcoholic beverage in motor vehicle and public intoxication;
• Gerardo Esobar-Pinales, 17, for possession of an alcoholic beverage in motor vehicle and public intoxication;
• Felipe Escobar-Pinales, 18, for possession of an alcoholic beverage in motor vehicle and public intoxication;
• Harold Dewayne McCuin, 48, for driving while intoxicated-third offense or more, no driver’s license and open containers prohibited-wine package store;
• Salcedo Samuel Enrique Calix, 24, for failure to identify-giving false/fictitious information and no driver’s license;
• Nada Elaine Gunter, 54, for theft, less than $50 w/previous conviction;
• Emmett Dean McCalister, 45, for assault-causing bodily injury (family violence);
• Darrin William Duplantis, 32, on another agency’s warrant;
• Robert Loyd Carroll, 42, for no driver’s license.
Rusk officers also wrote 125 traffic citations and 74 warnings during the two-week period.
The department generated a total of 93 reports between Friday, July 8, and Friday, July 23.
RPD officers worked three traffic collisions; responded to 13 false alarms and six reports of suspicious noises or persons; assisted other agencies, including CPS and APS, in 15 incidents; looked into three reported disturbances; investigated three civil cases, two animal complaints and one report of cruelty to animals; checked into three civil matters; and reported seven incidents.
Officers also continue to investigate one report burglary of a building; one case of criminal trespass; one aggravated assault and two assaults; one reported public intoxication and one DWI; one case of unlawful carry of a weapon; two reports of harassment and one of disorderly conduct; and four thefts. Officers also helped locate two missing people and a runaway from Rusk State Hospital, performed three escorts and two public services, assisted one motorist, served one warrant and received information on nine ongoing cases.
