Entities plan closures for Labor Day

JACKSONVILLE — Labor Day is a nationally mandated federal holiday which is observed by many occupations and local businesses around Jacksonville.

According to the city of Jacksonville, “City hall will be closed on Monday  and trash pick-up will not occur.”

Many other businesses like banks, the U.S. Post Office and doctors offices will be closed.

Closures include: Austin Bank, Texas National Bank, Capital One, Prosperity Bank.

The only banking exception that will stay open is the grocery store branches of Southside Bank.  

Area schools will also be closed during the holiday.

Closures include all campuses in the Jacksonville Independent School District System of Schools as well as Jacksonville College, Lon Morris College, and Tyler Junior College.

Government buildings like the courthouse in Rusk will be closed as well as the Singletary Memorial Library in Rusk and the Jacksonville Public Library and the Jacksonville and Rusk Chamber of Commerce.

Business as usual will resume Tuesday, Sept. 7.
