JACKSONVILLE —
Construction projects on Joe Wright and East Side elementary schools are moving along despite worsening weather conditions.
Jeff Edwards, Claycomb and Associates' representative, said East Side is 14 percent and Joe Wright is 23 percent completed during the Jacksonville ISD board meeting Monday night.
"We are pouring slab as weather permits," Edwards said.
In 2010 Jacksonville voters approved the $50-million bond proposal, which allotted $16.7-million for new Joe Wright and East Side campuses.
Shortly after Edwards's presentation, school members went into executive session to discuss "personnel, legal matters and student discipline," according to the board's agenda.
The board went into session at about 7:30 p.m. and returned around 9:15 p.m.
Earlier in the meeting, a bid for the first phase of pavement installation at Jacksonville High School was approved and is expected to be completed during the school's winter holiday in late December and early January.
The new pavement will start from the parking lot left of the athletic facility and run along the east side of the campus.
Also approved were the updated academic policies regarding course exams.
"We're going to have to keep bringing back policy changes every time clarifications on the STAAR exam are made," Superintendent Dr. Joe Wardell said.
