JACKSONVILLE — Jacksonville Fire Chief Paul White poses next to a box containing more life jackets donated to the department for the Kids Don’t Float program at Lake Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Fire Department took in another donation of life jackets Thursday from Kent Watersports in Tyler — this time around 650 of them. The company donated boxes of extra small women’s life jackets for free use on Lake Jacksonville. The Kids Don’t Float program allows folks to use the life jackets for their children free of charge, provided the jackets are returned at the end of the day. The program was introduced in early July, but soon after all of the original jackets were missing. Thursday’s donation was the second such donation since the original jackets were taken from the lake.
