Local organizations have declared their scheduled off hours for this week.
Jacksonville:
• City hall will close Friday, Christmas Day.
• Chamber of commerce closes Wednesday at noon and remain closed Thursday and Friday.
• Garbage services will not run Friday.
Rusk:
• City hall and the chamber of commerce will be closed Thursday and Friday.
• Garbage collection will be off Friday.
Bullard:
• Both the chamber of commerce and city hall will close Thursday and Friday.
• Garbage collection is scheduled for Wednesday and will not run Thursday or Friday.
Other agencies:
• Schools will be closed from Monday to Friday both the week of Christmas and the week of New Year’s Day. Classes resume Jan. 4.
• Post offices will be closed Friday.
• Banks will be closed at noon on Thursday and all day Friday. Southside Bank will close at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
• The Cherokee County Courthouse in Rusk will be closed Wednesday through Friday.
Newspaper:
The Jacksonville Daily Progress will close its office Thursday and Friday. It will reopen Monday. There will be no Friday, Dec. 25 edition of the Daily Progress.
