Staff Reports
The Alto Lions Club will hold the annual Christmas parade at 6 p.m. Monday in downtown Alto.
This year’s theme is “Colors of Christmas.”
Santa and Mrs. Claus will join a variety of entries from the community that will meet at Missionary Baptist Church, 107 Elkhart, to line up at 5:30 p.m. Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Theresa Phifer and State Rep. Chuck Hopson have said they will take part in the parade.
Once the parade participants are lined up, they will travel down State Highway 21 then turn at U.S. Highway 69 and go around the post office.
Alto Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Ray DeSpain will be the parade announcer. The Alto High School Band will provide music and marching.
The first-, second- and third-place parade entries will be honored. First prize is $50, and second and third receive plaques or certificates.
