The Rusk Chamber of Commerce has announced the nominations for the 2009 Business Woman and Business Man. The nominating committee met this week and recommended five women and five men for the recognition.
The Business Woman nominees are Anita Woodlee, of Anita Woodlee CPA, PA; Janae Halbert, of Flowers by Janae; Stephanie Caveness, of Beans’ Creek Ranch, B Sweet Antiques and Surprises, and Arrowhead Creek Realty; Marie Whitehead, of the Cherokeean Herald; and Marie Sales, of True Value Hardware.
The Business Man nominees are Austin Young, of Austin Young State Farm Russell Turner, of All Star Bar B Que; Doug Hassell, of Hilton Services; Larry Sinclair, of Cox, Sinclair and Sheridan; and Anthony Holcomb, of Cherokee Animal Clinic.
To be nominated by the committee, a nominee must be a member of or affiliated with a chamber of commerce member business, such as a business owner; or an officer or employee of a Rusk business, branch or affiliate. The entity they work for should be growing or expanding and be in good standing in the community.
The award is presented to someone who is an example of a dedicated leader, contributor (not always financial) and caretaker of the spirit of entrepreneurship while service the business community. The conduct of the recipient and the company should demonstrate a commitment to ethical business practices and service, thus projecting a positive community image. The awardee must demonstrate community involvement, service and/or leadership.
