Three Jacksonville streets could be closed for the Dec. 3 Christmas parade. The Jacksonville City Council will decide at its 5 p.m. Tuesday meeting in the Norman Activity Center.
Commerce Street from Zimmerman to Austin streets, Patton Street from Commerce to West Rusk streets and Zimmerman from Commerce to West Rusk. If it rains, the parade will be moved to Dec. 7 with the same streets blocked off.
In addition, several other items are on the council’s agenda, including:
• Public hearing and request for zone change from “J”-Manufacturing district to “J-Special Use” permit to allow for the replacement of an existing tower at 400 Selman St. American Tower is the applicant; Planning and Zoning approved the request.
• Discuss and consider approval of letter of understanding for auditing services by Henry and Peters, PC. This item was tabled at the October meeting for clarification.
• Discuss and consider approval of resolution casting the city’s votes for candidate to the Cherokee County Appraisal District board.
• Discuss and consider approval of Linda Taylor for appointment to the library board. Father Mark Kusmirek’s appointment has expired, and he does not wish to serve another term.
• Discuss and consider approval of appointment to Planning and Zoning board. Rayburn Haddon’s position has expired, though he may be reappointed.
• Discuss and consider appointments to the Lake Advisory board. Expired terms include John Page, Darrell Prcin and Mack Musick. These may be reappointed or new members may be chosen.
• Approval of request by Lon Morris College to use city right-of-way property to construct a public parking area. The school requests property on Reagen Street for public parking.
