Court prepares for Nov. 3 election

The Cherokee County Commissioners Court continues to prepare for the coming Nov. 3 election.

At 10 a.m. Monday, the commissioners will decide on an amended list of election judges and alternates for the election.

This decision will take place during the court’s regular monthly meeting. Other items on the agenda include:

• Possibly purchasing used vehicles for one or more precincts;

• Submission of an application to the East Texas Council of Governments for a grant to recycle solid waste;

•Help New Summerfield Independent School District repair the bus turn around on County Road 4721;

• Replace a culvert on CR 4506 at the request of the city of New Summerfield;

• Accept the fiscal year 2009 Homeland Security Grant Program award;

• Approve a part-time/full-time employee to be hired by Clint Goff, airport coordinator;

• Authorize an assignment of lease between Terry Mickler and Charles Crossman for hangar 31; and

• Establish the local data advisory board, authorized by the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.

The commissioners meet at 10 a.m. Monday in the county courtroom in Rusk.

The meetings are open to the public and include an open forum for citizen comment.
