JACKSONVILLE —
Summertime has came and went, but before students can take their seat at a school desk, new teachers, staff and faculty were welcomed to Jacksonville ISD.
Jacksonville held their annual new employee brunch at Central Baptist Church on Wednesday. The employees walked into eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and assorted fruit.
Superintendent Dr. Joe Wardell said every year the school loses good employees, but they are replaced with new ones who care just as much for the students.
“It's extremely important to have quality, and our new employees are of high quality who have come to join us,” he said.
Wardell said between the administration and the staff, Jacksonville ISD will give the students the adequate educate they need.
Senator Robert Nichols attended the brunch, and also welcomed the new Jacksonville ISD staff.
“Education is and always will be the most important issue we face as a state,” he said. “It is the greatest responsibility we have as one generation to ensure the next generations are well educated.”
At the brunch, Nichols Intermediate School Principal Laurie Greathouse praised a new employee to her school, but not new to the district.
Lora Franklin was obtaining her education degree at LeTourneau University while teaching the life skills class.
“I would teach here during the day and would drive to LeTourneau for the night classes,” she said. “It was not easy. I don't have a family, but if I did, it would have been extremely hard to do both.”
