Special to the Progress

JACKSONVILLE —
A chance to be a cowboy is what awaits special needs students from Cherokee County at the Junior Rodeo for Exceptional Kids on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 8:00am at the Rodeo Arena in Jacksonville.
This event is open to any child with special needs residing in Cherokee County.
All participants will have the opportunity to experience a series of modified versions of rodeo events such as roping, barrel racing, and riding a horse, all while being escorted by their very own Rodeo Buddy.
A rodeo clown, along with several actual working cowboys and cowgirls, will be there to provide the best experience possible.
“Getting a chance to be a cowboy brings a big smile to their faces. And that’s really the best thanks anyone can ask for,” said Charles Haley, one of the cowboys that volunteer their time and resources.
DeLeigh Haley, event coordinator, says that places are still available and that registration can be done at the gate beginning at 7:45am Saturday.
The event runs from 8:00am – 9:30am. To reserve a place for your child, volunteer or for additional information, please contact DeLeigh at 903-570-1449.
