JACKSONVILLE —
It was business as usual at the TallyHo Plastics building on S. Bolton Street Monday except for one detail: It is no longer TallyHo.
AonVoy Plastics, a division of Jacksonville-based AonVoy Industries Inc., purchased TallyHo and began operating under the new name on the Monday.
“It is our goal to continue and build a strong and more viable company,” said AonVoy President Raymond Grubbs. “We’re just excited about the opportunity to continue the TallyHo legacy in some way.”
Grubbs said one reason his company bought TallyHo was to use the larger space for increased business.
Similar to TallyHo, which began operations in 1966, AonVoy is a contract manufacturer specializing in custom injection molding, he said, meaning they work alongside other companies to develop and produce plastic goods.
A company will approach AonVoy with a product design and AonVoy develops the tooling needed for manufacturing, a process for which it is also responsible.
“We have several up-and-coming new projects,” he said. “In fact we’ll be launching a new project called the Mighty Max Cart that’ll be molded and manufactured here on site and we’ll have full distribution of it.”
The Mighty Max Cart is a four-wheeled cart used primarily for gardening and outdoor purposes, he said.
Grubbs said the business is adding a few workers in the coming months and a relationship with a major international corporation which uses injection-molded goods is being established.
While he could not release the name of the other party, working with an international body would benefit not only the company’s profits, but also the community.
“We are very, very close to putting together a long-term commitment with them, which would bring a lot of new business and new jobs to the city,” he said. “It’s our goal and objective to not only to create jobs for individuals here at our company but to create opportunity for the community of Jacksonville and Cherokee County.”
