JACKSONVILLE —
In its search for a publisher, Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., the owner of the Jacksonville Daily Progress, did not have to look far.
Lange Svehlak, publisher of the Athens Daily Review in Athens, a sister publication to the Daily Progress, will move into a regional publisher role and will be in charge of both publications.
“I look forward to getting to know everyone in the community,” Svehlak said. “I started in the business right out of college and absolutely love it. It's true about what you hear of newspaper people, once you get ink in your blood it's hard to get it out.”
Svehlak began his newspaper career in Ennis in 1998 as an advertising sales representative. He served as the news and advertising director from 2001 to 2005 and as general manager from 2005 to 2008.
Lange and his wife Julie have a 5-year-old daughter named Kendall and a
2-year-old son named Cason.
“We are fortunate to have Lange's experience and ability in Jacksonville,” said B.J. Riley, senior vice president and division manager for CNHI. “His extensive background will be an asset to the continued success of the Daily Progress. I am excited about what we can accomplish.”
