JACKSONVILLE —
Cherokee County officials are still investigating the apparent murder of 52-year-old William Earl Baker, known to his friends as “Wild Bill”.
Cherokee County Sheriff James Campbell said the alleged murder happened Aug. 27 some time after 5 p.m.
“A white male was found deceased in his driveway,” Campbell said. “Neighbors reported hearing gunshots between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.”
Campbell said there were no witnesses, but added the department received a call after 6 p.m. to investigate a shooting at 111 Jackie St.
The residence is located in the ShadyBrook subdivision near Bullard on Lake Palestine.
Campbell said the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department has no suspects as of press time and encouraged anyone with information about the alleged murder to contact the CCSD Criminal Investigation Division at 903-683-2271.
