JACKSONVILLE —
Jacksonville Independent School District’s board of trustees will make a call on whether to approve the district’s proposed budget of $33,474,939. The decision will be made Monday during a regular Jacksonville Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting at 6:30 p.m.
District Superintendent Dr. Joe Wardell said last year’s budget was $33,886,589 and added the tax rate won’t change this new school year.
“I think it’s a very good progression,” Wardell said. “The board has looked at it multiple times and it’s a good reflection that we’ve focused on instructional achievement in Jacksonville schools.”
Public hearings on both the 2010-2011 budget and the proposed tax rate of $1.13 per $100 valuation will be held prior to any board action.
Other items will be acted on during the board meeting:
• Final 2009-2010 budget amendment #10-06.
• Vendor bid to continue the interlocal agreement with the Texas Association of School Boards for property and casualty insurance for 2010-2011.
• Waiver to the Texas Education Agency for timeline for accelerated instruction.
• List of Professional Development Appraisal System appraisers for 2010-2011.
• Consent agenda, including minutes from July regular and special meetings, investment and business reports, budget amendments as needed, donations of $1,000 and over as needed and tax refund applications over $500 as needed.
In addition, several reports and presentations will be made to the board:
• 2009-2010 preliminary adequate yearly progress ratings and final state accountability results.
• Vision 20/20 Grant.
• Substitute teaching.
• Consideration of the need to change October, November and December, 2010, board meeting dates.
After the superintendent’s report and items for future agendas, the board will go into a closed session to discuss legal matters, student discipline, real property and professional employee. The meeting will be adjourned afterward.
School board meetings are normally held the third Monday of each month. They take place in the school’s administration building at 6:30 p.m. These meetings are open to the public and a time for public comment is included.
