JACKSONVILLE —
Carlton Johnson, a 20-year-old Jacksonville man, was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver Wednesday.
A jury in the Second Judicial District Court of Cherokee County found him guilty and sentenced him to 40 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, institutional division.
“We’re very pleased at the result and the length of the sentence handed down by the jury,” said Assistant Cherokee County District Attorney Rachel Patton. “We’re very proud of the hard work of the Jacksonville Police Department and feel this is a small step forward to making the streets of Jacksonville safer.”
Johnson was sentenced by Judge Dwight Phifer and represented by Jim Williams. Patton represented the state during the case.
Williams was not available for comment Friday afternoon.
