The Cherokee County Commissioners Court will decide whether to take bids on one or more dump trucks for the county Monday, Pct. 2 Commissioner Kevin Pierce said.
It will occur during the 10 a.m. regular court meeting in the county courthouse in Rusk.
“This is to replace the one we had which was involved in an accident the day before New Year’s,” Pierce said. “The accident totaled the old truck.”
He added the old dump truck cost around $65,000.
In addition, commissioners’ will decide whether to take bids on a used dump truck for more precincts. Pierce said he didn’t know how much a new vehicle would cost.
Other items on the commissioners’ agenda include
• laying utility lines in each precinct;
• approve contracts for election services for various entities;
• approve County Judge Chris Davis to sign all documents to finance tractor and other equipment in the amount of $98,000 with Citizens 1st Bank;
• approve an agreement with Trinity Mother Frances - Ross Breast Center for breast and cervical cancer services to be paid from a state grant;
• approve Cherokee County to transfer building in Wells to the city of Wells;
• approve consent agenda, including Constable Pct. 4 Jamie Beene’s monthly report, approval of AgriLife Extension monthly report and authorizing the payment of the bills.
The meeting is open to the public.
