One arrest at party near Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE — Christopher Hicks, 19, of Frankston, was booked March 14 following a party where Sheriff’s Department Captain Chris White said alcohol was served to minors.

Hicks was released March 15 on $16,200 bond.

“On March 13 at 11 p.m. sheriff’s deputies received information of an underage drinking party on County Road 3410 outside Jacksonville,” White said. “Several deputies arrived on the scene and made contact with a vehicle trying to leave.”

He said the driver was identified. White added beer in the vehicle gave deputies probably cause to search the vehicle, at which point he said they located marijuana and some pills.

“He was placed into the back seat of a patrol car,” White said. “At some point he freed himself, got out through the window, and ran a considerable distance from the scene.”

White added Hicks was found restrained on the property and returned to custody. He was charged with escape from custody, possession of a controlled substance from penalty group three under 28 grams and possession of marijuana under two ounces.
