JACKSONVILLE —
Several health screenings will be held this month in Cherokee County, courtesy of H.O.P.E. and the home health agencies it works with as part of the organization's Partners in Health program.
A Nov. 6 screening will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Bealls Department Store in Jacksonville; on Nov. 14, screenings will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Jacksonville Goodwill Store and at the Cherokee County Courthouse in Rusk.
Super Gallo Grocery, Jacksonville, will host a Nov. 21 screening from 10 a.m. to noon.
On Nov. 28, two Jacksonville businesses will host events: The screening at Brookshire Brothers is from 10 a.m. to noon, while the one at Wal-Mart is from 2 to 4 p.m.
The Partners in Health program makes these screenings available “to help connect under-insured or those with no insurance to health care providers,” and who do not have an opportunity to see a health-care physician on a regular basis, according to the organization's webpage, www.hopecenter.info.
H.O.P.E. (Helping Others Pursue Enrichment) is located at 595 S. Ragsdale in Jacksonville.
It was founded in 1991 by the local ministerial alliance in response to needs of people seeking information and assistance.
Today, the non-profit organization serves as a clearing house for churches and agencies in Cherokee County.
