RUSK —
Officials with the Craft-Turney Water Supply Corporation said they anticipate a boil water notice to be lifted from the area around the Pierce's Chapel community today around 10 a.m.
The notice is in effect at the intersection of F.M. 747 South and County Road 3211, south on 747 to the intersection of County Road 3114.
Monica Fisher, with the water supply corporation, said under the notice, residents should bring water to a rigorous boil for two minutes and allow it to cool down before consuming it. The water is safe for showers and other household uses.
She said the notice is a precautionary measure, and the water is being tested for harmful bacteria and microbes.
“There is not acid coming out of the water lines,” she said. “It's just water.”
Fisher said this is the third water boil notice issued by the corporation this week. She said a few water lines broke as a result of recent weather.
“When we get rain all of a sudden and the ground expands, water lines just break,” she said.
Fisher said a water sample was sent to a Tyler lab on Wednesday and results are anticipated to be received Thursday morning. Results will determine if the boil water notice is lifted, but said she expects the results to be favorable. Residents will be notified through the newspaper, radio and television stations.
Residents with questions should call manager Rhonda Briggs at 903-586-9301.
