Pinotti Pct 3 commissioner for another 4 years

JACKSONVILLE — Incumbent Precinct 3 Commissioner Katherine Pinotti claimed her spot for another four years by 57 votes in the July 31 runoff.

Running against Patrick Reagan, Pinotti had 672 total votes to Reagan's 629 votes. Election night was a close call as votes for both candidates were never more than 100 votes apart.

As Pinotti waited for the last box, only 41 votes ahead of Reagan, she jumped with excitement when votes totaled in her favor.

“It was a close race — closer than I thought it was going to be,” she said. “But I am very please to serve the people in my precinct for another four years.”

Pinotti said she hoped she was elected for a second term because she had projects she needed to complete in her precinct.

“I am very, very humbled by (the residents') support,” she said. “Patrick Reagan is a fine man, and I hope he can carry the torch in another four years.”

Reagan said “the people have spoken.”

“I am humbled by the amount of support I received, and I am thankful for it,” he said. “I wish the winner nothing but luck.”

In other races:

• Democrat Paul Sadler will run against Republican TedCruz for U.S. Senator.

• Dana Young won with 72.69 percent of the votes against Josie Schoolcraft for Precinct 12 Chairman.

• Blake Bailey won with 59.68 percent of the votes against Cheryl Cameron for Precinct 26 Chairman.

• Teresa Cox won with 77.90 percent of the votes against Vivian Cates for Precinct 27 Chairman.
