JACKSONVILLE —
The Jacksonville Development Corporation has established two new committees to ensure board members are remaining active in bringing business to Jacksonville.
The new search committee is responsible for looking for companies looking to relocate or establish new businesses to the city.
“They will do research, looking for companies that fit the criteria for Jacksonville,” Darrell Prcin, JEDCO president, said. “We'll send letter showing what we can offer.”
The search committee members are Chairman Eddie Lee, Vice Chairman Ed Snider, and members Don Walker, Craig Harvey and William Foreman.
The new recruitment committee, on the other hand, will guide companies already looking at Jacksonville as a potential area for relocation or establishment.
“When we have a company looking at us, of course we have an application process they have to follow, but that committee will host meetings with that client and will also do some traveling to visit the client,” Prcin said.
The recruitment committee members are Chairman Don Walker, Vice Chairwoman Phyllis Wilburn, and members Phillip Caron, Marlene Jowell, Ben Hamilton and Tricia Thomason.
Both new committees are encompassed of members not only from the JEDCO board, but members from the Economic Advisory Committee. Nathan Jones, chairman of the EAC, will work with both new committees.
JEDCO also approved the executive committee members, a regulation demanded from the JEDCO bylaws.
The executive committee members for JEDCO are Chairman Barry Hughes, vice president and vice chairman Freddy Thomas and Secretary Phyllis Wilburn.
“Chairman Barry Hughes thought we should designate people that way each board member has a responsibility to the JEDCO board,” Prcin said.
