RUSK — Four arrests have been made to conclude a four-week investigation conducted by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
Charlie Neil Harris Jr., 18, of Rusk; Eric James Mays, 19, of Jacksonville; and two 16-year-olds, one male and one female, were all arrested for burglary of a habitation between March 3 and 9.
Harris’ bond was set at $100,000; Mays’ was set at $50,000; the juveniles were detained in the Anderson County Juvenile Detention Center in Palestine.
On Feb. 8, Vance Henderson of Jacksonville reported to CCSO deputies that an unknown person or persons had entered into his home located near County Road 4208 and stolen numerous items of value from inside and outside the home.
Some of the items reported stolen included a motorcycle, a mini bike, home stereo equipment, car stereo equipment and video and entertainment system components.
Investigators spoke with area residents and discovered the names and descriptions of two individuals who allegedly possessed knowledge of the crime. Investigators Jonathan Hughes and Brad George spent the next several weeks meeting with numerous individuals and family members in an attempt to obtain information and locate the property stolen.
As probable cause was developed, numerous individuals were arrested and charged for their participation in the crime.
Investigators were able to return a large portion of the property stolen from Henderson’s home. Items were located at area pawn shops and residences of the suspects. No further arrests are anticipated to be made in connection with this case.
