JACKSONVILLE — The Jacksonville Daily Progress is pleased to introduce the newest member of its editorial staff.
Filling the empty reporter position for the paper is Jacksonville native Kevin Jones.
“I have wanted to work in a media related field for many years starting when I worked on the high school yearbook staff in my time at JHS,” Jones said. “It has always been interesting for me to see all of the great things that go on in our small community and more than anything the many great community activities that happen here in Jacksonville however, some go without notice.
“As a reporter for the Jacksonville Daily Progress one of my goals is to get the ‘scoop’ on some of the lesser known stories and news worthy events here in Jacksonville. My hope is that the community at large and readers of the Daily Progress can be more informed about their community with the work that I do.”
Kevin is a graduate of Jacksonville High School where he graduated as a Texas Scholar. He is currently working toward an Associate of Science degree at Jacksonville College with the intention of transferring to Texas A&M University in College Station for a Bachelor degree in Biomedical Science.
Jones is a member of First Baptist Church Jacksonville and a member of the Jacksonville College Choir.
“With so many wonderful people in town, I look forward to working for the only news outlet in Jacksonville along with getting to know many new and interesting people and devoting more of my time to the community as a reporter for the Jacksonville Daily Progress,” Jones said.
Amy Miller, publisher, said she was pleased the Daily Progress added Jones to its staff.
“In my role here at the paper, it is refreshing to find someone from the local community that brings the necessary assets to the table,” Miller said. “Kevin is well versed in writing and photography and has a sharp eye for design. Since he has grown up here and knows the community well, I think he will be a great addition to our family. I am anxious for the community to get to know Kevin and his work as a reporter for the Daily Progress.”
