Consideration for additions or alterations to the jail and sheriff’s department per the Accessibility Consultants of Texas will appear before Monday’s commissioners’ court meeting. The meeting will take place at 10 a.m. in the county courtroom in Rusk and will be open to the public.
Sheriff’s Department Captain Chris White said the changes could involve the bathrooms.
Other items to appear on the court agenda include:
• Laying utility lines in each precinct.
• Sheriff’s department monthly report for February.
• Approval of replacing wrecked dump truck for Precinct 2 through the buy board.
• Acceptance of John Mark Lester’s resignation to the Cherokee County Appraisal District Board of Directors and make a nomination for a replacement.
• Hear from Barry Hughes of NET RMA who will provide a brief update on Texas Department of Transportation projects in Cherokee County and request the court review priorities.
• Approval of contract with the city of Jacksonville to hold a local option election for May 8.
• Resolution certifying urgent need conditions within Cherokee County.
• Agreement with Area Health Education Center for training community health workers.
• Consent agenda, including approval of court minutes of February meetings, approval of auditor monthly report for January, approval of monthly reports for Constables of precincts 1 and 2 and authorizing the payment of bills.
