The Jacksonville Police Department has issued arrest warrants for the capture of the two Hispanic males believed to be responsible for an aggravated assault with a hammer on Aug. 31 at Whataburger.

Police officials said they are looking for Jesus “Jesse” Urquiza Jr., 27, and his juvenile brother.

The attack occurred at 4 p.m. in the drive-through of the restaurant. JPD believes that after the victim received his food, he began to pull around another vehicle when the two occupants of that vehicle got out and blocked his way. The victim then exited his truck because he was fearful that they would damage it, according to JPD reports.

While talking to the driver of the other vehicle, the passenger came around the corner and struck the victim in the face with a carpenter’s hammer, according to JPD reports.

“The victim was able to positively identify both actors. It was determined that Jesse drove the getaway vehicle and the 16-year-old was the one who actually did the striking,” said Detective Jason Price. “There is no difference in the charges they face since both were parties to the offense. Both face aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges, which is a second-degree felony, and those warrants were issued today (Friday).”

Price said Urquiza and the victim are related by marriage, but not closely enough for the crime to be considered family violence. The victim did not require medical treatment.

“Both individuals have histories of violence with the Jacksonville Police Department, and the older of the two also has numerous arrests for drug-related offenses,” he said.

Basket Factory burglary

The police are also investigating a burglary at the Texas Basket Factory earlier this week. JPD was called to the scene early Tuesday morning.

“Entry was made through a door, and the actors went inside, knocked over a few stacks of baskets and discharged four fire extinguishers. They also broke into a small office area by breaking a window, but nothing was noted to have been taken,” Price said. “Evidence was collected at the scene which could identify the actors. The evidence we collected points to at least two separate individuals being responsible for the crime.”

JPD’s investigation is on-going.

The following arrests were made by the Jacksonville Police Department for the period of Sept. 5 through Sept. 18.

• Luis A. Arredondo, public intoxication. A citation was issued.

• Brandon B. Bing, two counts of public intoxication and to violating a promise to appear. Bonds were set at $500, $500, $500 and $500.

• Kyle R. Bing, city traffic warrant. Fines were set at $456.

• Kyle Blocker, failure to yield, driving with invalid license and driving left of center. Fines were set at $162, $364 and $97.

• Kaneisha L. Boseman, failure to identify and disorderly conduct. Citations were issued.

• Gary L. Canady, city traffic warrant. Fines were set at $235.63.

• Patrick Coke, public intoxication. A citation was issued.

• Rick Cole Jr., city traffic warrants. Fines were set at $1,084.

• Jared A. Craine, driving while intoxicated. Bond was set at $3,000.

• Jeremy J. Cumbie, assault/family violence causing bodily injury and unlawful restraint. Bonds were set at $1,500 and $1,500.

• LaShanan N. Daniels, burglary of a habitation. Bond was set at $10,000.

• Roy F. Daniels, two counts of assault/family violence causing bodily injury and terroristic threat of family. Bonds were set at $7,500, $7,500 and $7,500.

• Pamela L. East, city traffic warrant. Fines were set at $206.25.

• Mark A. Elliot, public intoxication. A citation was issued.

• Nathaniel Evans Sr., city traffic warrants and child support warrant. Bonds were set at $1,145 and $3,000.

• Stephen S. Fuentes, city traffic warrant. Fines were set at $244.40.

• Armandina R. Galvan, no driver’s license, making an unsafe pass and immigration hold. Fines were set at $217 and $137, and she is being held.

• Tammy G. Garner, theft by check (Anderson County warrant). Bond was set at $750.

• Raul Gonzalez, no driver’s license, no insurance, ran stop sign and immigration hold. Time served on three traffic offenses and he is being held.

• Crystal L. Hallum, public intoxication and resisting arrest. Bond was set at $1,500 and a citation was issued.

• Earlie R. Johnson Jr., public intoxication with three prior convictions. Bond was set at $1,500.

• James A. Lucas, public intoxication. A citation was issued.

• Cynthia H. Mallard, public intoxication, resisting arrest and city traffic warrants. Bonds were set at $1,500 and $1,382, and a citation was issued.

• Lakesha McCuin, city traffic warrant. Fines were set at $183.

• Timothy McFadden, assault/family violence. Bond was set at $2,000.

• Jose A. Mendez Jr., driving while intoxicated. Bond was set at $3,000.

• Jimmy D. Mosley, disorderly conduct. A citation was issued.

• Justin W. Musick, assault causing bodily injury, unlawful restraint and interfering with an emergency call with a prior conviction. Bonds were set at $1,500, $1,500 and $1,500.

• Stephen T. Paine, city traffic warrants and expired driver’s license. Fines were set at $630.

• Toddrick O. Polk, robbery (Dallas County warrant). Bond was set at $2,500.

• Mike Rodriguez, city traffic warrant. Fines were set at $413.

• Alejandro L. Sanchez, driving while intoxicated and immigration hold. Bond was set at $1,500 and he is being held.

• Nicolas Sovine, public intoxication. A citation was issued.

• Julie M. Strom, public intoxication. A citation was issued.

• Martin Villegas, public intoxication and immigration hold. Time served on public intoxication and he is being held.

• Jerry W. Walding Jr., three counts of credit/debit card abuse. Bonds were set at $7,500, $5,000 and $5,000.

• Eric L. Warren, parole violation. No bond was offered.

• Elroy J. White, city traffic warrants and possession of drug paraphernalia. Fines were set at $598 and a citation was issued.

• Keyunna N. White, city traffic warrant. Fines were set at $428.50.

The following arrests were made by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Public Safety for the period of Sept. 9 through Sept. 15.

• Daniel R. Andrews, terroristic threat and minor in possession on alcohol. Bonds were set at $1,500 and $325.

• Stacy L. Black, assault/family violence causing bodily injury. Bond was set at $3,000.

• Lafelton M. Brooks, theft by check. Bond was set at $500.

• Billy J. Brown, parole warrant. No bond was offered.
