The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department teamed with the Jacksonville Police Department in executing a narcotics search warrant Friday at 405 Gillespie Street in Jacksonville.
Five individuals were arrested as a result of the operation, three of whom will be charged with evading arrest in addition to drug charges.
Arrested at the scene were Gregory Charles Franklin, Jeniqa Shamere Holman, Antonio Debon Minter and Patrick Dervin Ross, all of Jacksonville and Chadwick Wanell Calhoun of Palestine.
The search warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation by the CCSD Narcotics Division.
“We’d been doing intelligence on the residence for about two weeks,” said Sheriff James Campbell. “We’ve gotten calls from citizens who noticed suspicious activity at the home - individuals coming and going at all hours of the night, for example,” he said.
“Whenever you see many people visiting a residence and leaving quickly, that tips folks off that something criminal may be taking place.”
Investigators on the scene located approximately 20 grams of a substance believed to be crack cocaine. They also confiscated 8 grams of marijuana and $1,500 cash.
Calhoun, Minter and Holman were all located outside the residence at the time of the search warrant and attempted to elude officers on foot, but were apprehended after a brief pursuit. They will be charged with evading arrest, which is a misdemeanor.
The complete list of charges are as follows:
Franklin, 32, faces charges of manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance. Bond was set at $30,000.
Calhoun, 34, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and evading arrest. Bond for those charges was set at a total of $22,250.
Minter, 17, was charged with manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and evading arrest. Bond was set at a total of $27,250.
Holman, 18, stands accused of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and evading arrest. Bond for those charges was set at a total of $22,250.
And, Ross, 40, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. Bond was set at $20,750.
Each suspect is being held at Cherokee County Jail.
