New Orleans native Raymond Billy has joined the Jacksonville Daily Progress as its news editor. He will also work as a reporter and columnist.
Before joining the Jacksonville Daily Progress on April 30, Billy worked as a self-syndicated columnist, writing for Louisiana newspapers such as the Shreveport Times, the Hammond Daily Star, the Thibodaux Daily Comet and Mississippi's Meridian Star which, like the Jacksonville Daily Progress, is owned by Community Newspaper Holdings Inc.
During his collegiate years at Northwestern State University , Billy served as opinion page editor of the Current Sauce, NSU’s student-run newspaper. In that capacity, he wrote editorials and selected guest columns. He also worked as a reporter for the newspaper.
