JACKSONVILLE —
Arts application are now available on the Jacksonville Area Arts Council website as its first festival approaches, slated for Oct. 27.
Mike Withrow, public relations officer for the arts council, said the all-day event slated to take place at the Norman Activity Center has taken months of planning.
“We are now getting down to the nitty-gritty of the task sheet and double checking each committee to make sure we are each on task,” he said.
Withrow said he hopes all the finer details will be completed within the next day so promotion of the event can begin.
“We're starting sponsor drives now and we already have some entertainment lined up,” he said.
Patrick James, Eric Mosley and Withrow Cooley have been confirmed for the evening entertainment and the council is seeking a performing arts group for the opening of the event.
The festival will have booths for artist to display their exhibits. All work displayed must be original art produced by the artist.
There will be limited booths for artist exhibition and the artist can pply for a booth inside the activity center building or outside.
Inside booths are $55 and 12 foot by 12 foot. Outdoor booths are $40 and no electricity will be available.
