JACKSONVILLE —
Two members of the Cherokee County Delegation received good news at last weekend’s Democrat state convention in Houston.
Caesar Roy of Jacksonville and Joanna Reagan of Bullard were elected as delegates to attend the Democrat National Convention this fall in Charlotte, NC.
“I'm so delighted and excited,” Roy said. “I feel that I'll do as good of a job as I possibly can.”
Roy, who’s been a member of the Democratic Party for 20 years and currently serves as the county party's chairman, will be attending the national convention for the first time. Reagan on the other hand, has been there before.
“I've been number of times,” Reagan said. “I retired to Texas about eight years ago and I went with the Virginia Democrats as a labor delegate.”
Even though she has been there before, Reagan said she is still thrilled.
“I'm very excited,” she said. “I'm so honored that I was elected and it’s all thanks to friends and colleagues who expressed confidence in my abilities to represent them and I will certainly represent their views and concerns. It’s a terrific honor, and one of nicest things about attending state and national conventions is being around great people with shared values.”
No Republicans from Cherokee County were called to represent their party at the Republican National Convention in 2012.
