Accident injures mailman

JACKSONVILLE — A rural mail carrier was care-flighted to East Texas Medical Center-Tyler following a one-vehicle crash.

Jacksonville Fire Department Lt. Mike Terry said it happened Tuesday afternoon on County Road 3305 west of Jacksonville.

“The mail truck had run off the road and was on its side in a ditch,” Terry said. “We got the jaws of life out to get access to him.”

Highway Patrol officers did not return calls made to their office Tuesday afternoon. The injured mail carrier was not identified by fire officials.

“He was conscious at the scene,” Terry said.
