JACKSONVILLE — Filing opens Monday for those wishing to serve on either the Jacksonville City Council or the Jacksonville ISD Board of Trustees.
The last day to file will be March 8, and election day will be May 8.
City council positions representing districts 2 and 4, currently held by Jeff Smith and Rob Beall, respectively, will be on the ballot. Those who file to campaign for either of these positions must live in the district for which they file, be current on all taxes, and be registered to vote.
Early voting begins April 26 at City Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On April 28 and 29 early voting will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Election Day voting is May 8 at the Jacksonville Public Library 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Anyone wishing to file for either open position can speak to City Secretary Betty Thompson.
JISD Board positions held by Jim Tarrant and Pat McCown will also be up for election.
Anyone wishing to file to campaign for either position may apply in person at the JISD Administration Building, 1547 Pine St.
Early voting will begin April 27 at the Jacksonville Senior Center on 302 S. Bolton. It will run Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Election Day voting will take place at the Jacksonville Public Library on 502 S. Jackson from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone with questions can call election administrator Yvonne Burgert at 903-586-6511, ext. 12.
April 8 is the last day to register to vote in the May 8 elections.
