JACKSONVILLE —

Michael Wolf, 21, of Jacksonville, was arrested Feb. 26 for a charge of assault by smothering or strangling, Jacksonville Police Department Detective Jeremy Pate said. The arrest report, released only recently, listed his bond as being set at $10,000.

Pate said a report was filed by Wolf’s wife in which she stated she and Wolf had argued over custody of a child.

“While she was walking away Michael grabbed her on the arm and threw her on the bed,” Pate said. “He reportedly put her hands around her throat.”

He added in the initial report Wolf was not said to have blocked his wife’s airway, but police investigators determined the opposite.

“A friend pulled Michael off her and she was able to leave,” Pate said.

Wolf was arrested when an officer recognized him walked down the street, Pate said.

Pate added the incident happened Jan. 28. He also said Wolf was transferred to Cherokee County custody. Wolf was later released on bond, county officials said.
