JACKSONVILLE — Another Jacksonville’s restaurant plans on going wet; Lindo Mexico has requested a zone change from “G”-Commercial District to “G-Special Use” to allow for the service of alcohol within the restaurant.
This request will be considered at the city council’s upcoming meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. It will take place in the Norman Activity Center and will be open to the public.
If approved, Lindo Mexico will become able to serve alcohol in the restaurant regardless of whether Jacksonville itself legalizes alcohol sales within the city.
Other items are on the agenda set for the meeting. A citizen’s participation period will be held prior to the series of action items.
• Approval of minutes of regular council meeting of Feb. 9.
• Request for variance to allow for rental of property on Lake Jacksonville located at 2403 and 2404 Moore Lane.
• Approval of annual city audit by Henry & Peters, P.C.
• Resolution establishing a finance committee of the city of Jacksonville.
• Resolution certifying urgent need conditions for funding through the Texas Department of Rural Affairs and the Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
• Approval of bids received for the annual contract for water system supplies.
• Amendment to the sick leave bank policy.
• Appointment of an election judge for the general city council election.
• Appointment to the Keep Jacksonville Beautiful committee.
• Approval of interlocal agreement between Cherokee County and the city of Jacksonville for conducting a local option liquor election of May 8.
An open forum for the mayor and city council will follow, as well as comments from City Manager Mo Raissi. At 5:30 p.m. prior to the meeting there will be an executive session for consultation with City Attorney Joe Angle with regards to the city’s contractual obligations.
